4.Compare and contrast Beneatha and Ruth, ruth is more out there and loud and beneatha is more quite and to her self.

5.In what ways does class play a role, the class play te parts so we can get a feel about them.

6.In what ways does gender play a role, genders have a role in this because in the old days women were not ever really allowed to do anything like being a doc like beneatha wants to be.

7.In what ways does race play a role, blacks were looked down apond back in the day, whites were better then blacks back then.

8.If you were to write Act 3, what would happen, if i were to wright act 3 it whould be like walter gets the money for momma and he leaves and buys the liquor store hesalways wanted to buy and when everyone finds out he took the money he startd to feel bad about takeing all of it and with some of the money he evencully gives beneatha back the money he took rom her.....

1. I think the message to be learned is that money is never as important as your family.
2. The main theme is family conflict.
3. The central conflict is the financal situation of the family.
4. Beneatha and Mama's differences can be described as Beneatha is a non-religious, more about the education, while Mama cares more about tending her family and getting a better home for them.
5. Ruth is a very reserved quiet person while Beneatha is outspoken and honest.
6. Low class citizens are always going to feel the need to progress in thier financial class.
7. The men always are more dominant and women look towards thier men to be responsible and thoughtful of thier family.
8. This story takes place when segregation was still an issue, therefore influencing the way the characters think and act towards other ethnicities.
9. If i were to write act III, beneatha would go to school for what she wanted, and the family would get into a new, more suitable house.
10. Walter is likeable at times to people that he feels deserve it. As well as sympathetic. But as a whole, I couldnt say he is, because he chooses the people.
11. Beneatha cares and knows the importance of a good education, Walter doesnt seem to take too much interest in education or influencing others to do so, George is a well paid man and would much rather get paid.
12. The phrase might sybolize the dreams that those people had that shrivled up like "a raisin in the sun".

2) The central theme of the paly is..family; freinds; money; and love.
3) The central conflict of the play is deciding on how to spend the 10,000 insurance money.
4) Compare & Contrast Mama and Bennie..mama is religous and Bennie isn't..Bennie is younger than mama..they both have to share a room together.
5)Compare and contrast Ruth & Bennie..Bennie is more uplifted than Ruth, Ruth is pregnant and Bennie isn't, Ruth has a cleaning job and Bennie goes to school to be a doctor, both are young
6)They're leaving more of a low calss life in the play.
7)Men have dreams that are absed on establishing something and women have dreams on pursuing something. Man like to rule and regulate money, while women sit back and just take there part.
8)Race plays a role in this play based on class and there in the time period of rascism.
9)Ruth will probably have a miscarraige, move into new house, Ruth goes off with Asagai, and Walter gets liqour store.
10)No,cause he goes off, doesn't think about his actions and what he says.
11)George and Bennie: have dreams of becoming something based on there education, and Walter wants to starts his own business..But all of them want to do something positive.
12)Mama's plant: growth; family, Bennie's hair:wanting to be more like her african heritage, Asagai, George's shoes: expensive and A raisin in the Sun: Dreams getting old and perishing.

1. Don’t get greedy with money is the message from the book.

3. The central conflict is based on what Walter’s decision is what to do with the money.
4. Beneatha and Mama are similar b/c they both look out for their future, their differences are their beliefs towards God.
5. Ruth and Beneatha are similar b/c of they both have their share of being disrespected, their differences are that one of them have a college education.
6. It shows what a lower-class family would do if they received a large amount of money like the family in the book did.
7. Gender show how women made best decision for their family.
8. Race doesn’t really play a role besides some racism in the book.
9. Walter would go to jail for participated in an illegal get rich quick scheme.
10. No he is too rude.
11. George thinks that you need it to get rich and be top dog. Beneatha shows how women were looked down on getting education. Walter thinks that people with education are stuck up.
12. Mama’s plant shows how bad the family is compared to the lack of sunshine the plant is getting. Beneatha’s hair shows her dedication towards the African culture. George’s shoes show how he went to college. A raisin in the sun shows how dried up something is.

1.I think Hansberry's overall message of the book is sometimes a family can corrupt if they recieve alot of money and she is trying to teach us that a family with alot of material items can be a family that doesn't function how a family should.

2.The central theme of the play is that material things can sometimes get in the way of somethings that are structured together such as family.

3.The central conflict of the play is that the Younger famliy is getting $10,000 and everybody wants to spend it their own way and the family is argueing about what to spend the money on.

4.The difference between mama and Beneatha is that mama believes in God and Beneatha doesn't believe in God. Mama doesn't really care about the money and Beneatha wants the money for medical school.

5.The difference between Ruth and Beneatha is that Ruth wants the money for a new house and Beneatha wants the money for medical school.

6.Class plays a role because the famlily is in lower class and the family is suprised about how much money they are recieving.

7.Gender plays a role because if the family was full of girls the money would be spent quickly and on unecessary items.

8.Race plays a role because most poor families are black and most rich families are white. Blacks don't have that many opportunities in the society.

9.If I could write Act 3, this would happen: Walter puts the money mama gave him in a bank account and saves up the money for the liquor store and Beneatha's medical school money. Ruth and Walter talk about her being pregnant and getting an abortion/

10.I think Walter is a likable and sympathetic character because once mama gives him the money he starts to act nice towrds Ruth and Travis.

11.Beneatha's view on education is that if you want to get somewhere in life you have to go to school for it like she is with being a doctor. George's view on education is similar to how Beneatha views education, he thinks it is very important. Walter doesn't really care that much about education because he is so worried about his liquor store.

12.Mama's plant might symbolize peace in the family with everyone getting along. Beneatha's hair could symbolize her black heritage because when she cuts it she is refering to the roots of her ancestors. George's shoes could symbolize the assimilation of blacks in the United States. A raisin the sun could symbolize how dried up something can be if you let it set out for a long time.

13.Yes I think this play should be in the english curriculum because it shows how a poor family goes from being apart to coming together due to the amount of money they recieve and how they spend it.

1.Hansberrys overall message is that money is not everything and neither are material things.
2.The central theme of the play is that family is forever while money is rare.
3.The central conflict is that Mama wants one purpose for her money while Walter thinks it should be used for another purpose.
4.Beneatha is very uptight about her education and does not value religion while Mama does not understand the whole concept of education and is ver religious. Both Beneatha and Mama share the same insight on Walter.
5. Ruth believes education to only be a part of life while Beneatha believes education to be everything. They both believe women should be independent instead of dependent on a man.
6.Class plays a role because the family is born poor and part of the lower class, but due to their newfound wealth they are trying to move up to a decent part of middle class.
7.Gender plays a role because in the play women are the more dominant species over men. This is not supposed to be in a more "ideal" world.
8.In A Raisin in The Sun race depicts where you are socially in a hierachy. Blacks are part of the lowest low class and whites are the ultimate dominant species.
9. If I was to write an Act three Beneatha would realize how she feels about Asagai, the whole family will live happily ever after, and they would move to the white neighborhood in pursuit of their dreams.
10.Walter is a character that demands sympathy from most but is very unlikeable and pitiful.
11.Beneatha believes education to be the most important part of life while Walter does not really give an opinion while George ranks w/ Beneatha.
12.plant- a new start in life
hair- return to African roots
shoes- success
a raisin in the sun- a dream ended
13. I think this play belongs in a english curriculum because it helps to depict life for bvlacks back in the day while instutuing English and Social Studies all in one.

1. What do you think is Hansberry's overall message/lesson?
I think that Hansberry’s overall message/lesson is that you shouldn’t let materialistic things get in the way of what’s important.
2. What are the central themes of the play?
Money, family, racism, dreams.
3. What is the central conflict?
The family get’s a 10,000 dollar check from Mr. Younger’s (Mama’s husband) life insurance and how it affects the Younger family’s dynamics.
4. Beneatha: Speaks her mind too much, anti-religious, disrespectful, has men that appreciate her.

Mama: Shows a lot of wisdom, religious, had a man that appreciated her, kind and respectful.

5.Beneatha (same as above)
Ruth: Cares about family, religious, always tired, stressed about what’ll happen beyond the present, realistic.

6.Class plays a role because during the time period of the story, this and race are kind of intertwined because in the story, most African Americans were low class and a small percentage of Caucasians were middle/upper class.

7.Gender does play a role because in the story, when Walter is talking about his dream with Ruth, she completely disregards him and he goes into this whole thing about how women don’t care or listen to men.

8.As I said above, this and class are intertwined because your race kind of determined what class you were somewhat.

9.If I wrote Act 3, I think that Ruth and the family will move into the house that Mama paid for and that Walter, Ruth, and Mama will figure out how if it’s possible for Walter to open his liquor store. Also, I think that Beneatha will be honest with both Joseph Asagai and George (since she can’t have both of them).

10.I think that Walter is not a sympathetic character because he does a lot of things that are quite selfish and self-centered that may rub readers the wrong way. Also, I think that he’s obsessed with money and is completely blind sighted to the more important things in his life.

11.George: He believes that education depends on how much money you have rather than how intelligent you are.

Beneatha: She thinks that in order to be successful, education is vital to her life.

Walter: He believes that education won’t matter unless you’re white and are basically upper class.

12.Mama's plant: I think it symbolizes growth. As far as applying it to the story, it could symbolize that the family is growing in something positive.

Beneatha's hair: I think it represents Bennie’s African roots. In the story, Asagai refers to Bennie’s hair as something of the African culture and how it was natural for Africans to wear their hair and it could also represent how something so natural could never be appreciated in an unnatural place.

George's shoes: I think it represents his exact beliefs, that you have to have a lot of money to be something.

A raisin in the sun: Walter’s dream.

13. Yes, because one, it’s a great learning tool for black history month. Two, it gives someone a look into what society was and how it’s changed up until the present day.

A raisin in the sun questions.

1) Hansberry’s overall message/lesson was that money doesn’t always buy happiness. And sometimes people don’t realize how important family really is.

2) The central themes of the play are money, race, heritage, happiness, success, and family.

3) The central conflict is about them struggling with money at first and then after a while it was not knowing what to do with the money.

4) Mama; she’s about peace, togetherness, and religion. Beneatha; She’s about education, heritage, and doesn’t believe in god.

5) Ruth; Walters’s wife, cooks/ supports Walter and Travis. Beneatha; she doesn’t like Walter.

6) Class plays a role because Walters family was considered to be lower class due to the fact that they had very little money.

7) Gender plays a role because the men assume what jobs and such that women can do, and women automatically result to being house wives because they aren’t expected to do anything harder then that.

8) Race plays a role because African Americans are usually considered lower class while most Caucasian people are considered higher class because of there race.

9) If I were to write act 3, I would make Beneatha end up with Asagi, I would have the family end up being extremely happy now that they have all of that money, Beneatha would start going to collage, And Ruth and Walter’s marriage would become a lot stronger once they have both accomplished what they wanted to with the money.

10) Yes, Walter is a likable character. He cares about his family, And in most cases he does whatever he can to give them just what they want.

11) George’s view on education, he’s stuck up about the fact that he has a good education. Walter just wants his kids to be exactly what they want to be, but he doesn’t care for it much. And Beneatha wants nothing more then to become a doctor and have a good education.

12) Mama’s plant, Beneathas hair, George’s shoes, A raisin in the sun. These things all symbolize the characters main focus about them selves. Mama wants peace. Beneatha wants to look pretty and have an education. And George wants all eyes on him all the time.

13) Yes, I do. Because even though a lot of the terms they use are inappropriate, it’s a very interesting play that needs to be read by all students.

1. Hansberry’s overall message is that even through money can get you a lot; it can never replace family and can spoil your mind.
2. The main themes are money, religion and family
3. The main conflict is that money came into mind of a poor family and drove everyone crazy.
4. Beneatha isn’t very religious and Mama is very. Also Mama cares for everyone and Beneatha only cares about being a doctor.
5. Ruth cares about the family and how they live there lives. Beneatha only cares about how is going to go to medical school and become a doctor.
6. Class is in it because the Younger’s are in the lower class and some believe they need money to get to the higher class with the white people.
7. Gender is important because Walter says that women need to stay home why the men need go out and get all the money but Ruth thinks that if the men aren’t doing anything, they need to do something too.
8. Race doesn’t play such a big role because all it is, is whites are wealthy and blacks are poor.
9. I would say that, in act 3, Walter will end up still working as a driver, Beneatha will find a way the go to medical school, Ruth will have the baby, Mama will die and that’s all.
10. Walter isn’t any of those things because he sometimes doesn’t treat the ladies with the respect they deserve.
11. George and Beneatha says you need to have education to be successful and Walter says you only need money and education doesn’t matter.
12. Mama’s plant symbolizes that when the plant finally dies, she will. Beneatha hair symbolizes her going back to her African roots. George’s shoe symbolizes money and a raisin in the sun symbolizes dream going away slowly.
13. No because they talk different and all it is, is arguing back and forth between every one.

1. I think the over all message of the story is that money can interfere with your family in a negative way or positive way, in this case, negative.
2. The central themes of this play are family, money, love, and success.
3. The central conflict is the $10,000 Mama got for her husbands death and how that money should be spent.
4. Beneatha and Mama are similar because they are both independent and very out spoken with their ideas yet they are different because Mama is very religious and Beneatha doesn’t even believe in god.
5. Beneatha and Ruth are both sort of careless when it comes to the issue and thought of money yet they are different because Ruth is more laid back and Beneatha is more outgoing and puts her opinion out in the open.
6. Class plays a roll in a way showing that lower-class people have a harder struggle and money has a bigger value to them.
7. Gender plays a role by showing that women usually stay home and clean and don’t really have a say in things where men are the ones going off to work and making the major decisions and when they don’t make the big decisions they get mad.
8. Race plays a roll showing that white people usually live in better neighborhoods and that blacks are sort of worried to be living in the same place as them because segregation exists.
9. If I was to write Act 3, they would move into the house and some of their white neighbors would cause some sort of problem for them that makes their struggle even more difficult but they wouldn’t give up.
10. Walter isn’t really a likable or sympathetic character because he makes himself act the way he does when he drinks. If he didn’t drink he could probably be nicer to people but he chooses to drink and treats woman without respect when he does.
11. George and Beneatha have the same view about education, they both think it’s important to have an education to become successful and work in the medical fields like they want to where Walter doesn’t really care for education and doesn’t think its that important because all he wants to do it open a liquor store and you don’t exactly need a scholarship to do that.
12. I think that the plant symbolizes the growth of the characters throughout the story. Beneatha’s hair symbolizes the importance of heritage and that she’s proud of where she came from. George’s shoes symbolize money and being successful at the point where all of the characters want to be one day. And a raisin in the sun symbolizes the struggles of an African American wanting to be successful because in the sun a raisin shrivels up and looses size where at this time, an African American in a “white mans world” looses most of his freedom and strength because he’s always being put down.
13. Yes because it shows some of the struggles African Americans went through during this period of time and that many different races today are still going through.

1.Hansberry's message was that money shouldn't be the main thing in life because you still have family.
2.The central themes are money, education, culture, friendship, and family.
3.The central conflict is the money that mama got from her husband.
4.Beneatha is all about who she dates and her becoming a doctor, as mama is religious and wants the best for the whole family.
5.Ruth seems to be the one who has common sense between the two, and is quiet. Beneatha is wild and loud.
6.Being of the lower class, money doesn't come easy for them and it doesn't bring them as much success as many people who do have money.
7.In this play, men are the ones known to be in more control for their money, even when it's for the family.
8.I don't think racism really takes a role in this play so far because as of now money is the root problem in this family, and race isn't really the main focus.
9.In Act 3, I think that Walter will use mama's money behind her back and go buy his liquor store.
10.I say no because he, to me, only thinks about hiself and his success.
11.Beneatha and george both care about education alot, as to Walter, he only cares about his liquor store and his money.
12.Mama's plant to me symbolize the family. It symbolizes how the family nurtures themselves as well as the plant. Its like the family is the plant. Beneatha's hair symbolizes culture. George's shoes symbolize richness. A raisin in the sun symbolizes the dreams that are not achieved.

1. Hansberry's message was to show that family is more important than money and one thing may be right for one person but not everyone.
2. The central themes are family, money, dreams, happiness, and social relationships.
3. The central conflict is finding out what "Mama" should d with the money from her husband's insurance policy.
4. Mama and Beneatha both want Beneatha to go to school. They think their opinions are right and everyone else's are wrong. Compare and contrast Beneatha and Ruth. They are both concerned for Ruth and clean u after Travis. Even though they are alike, Mama is more caring than Bennie. She is more down to Earth. She lives in reality, while Bennie is still trying to "Find herself."
5.Ruth and Bennie both believe in Bennie. They know "Mama" is getting the money but they dont really care for it. They accept tha fact that it is her money and not theirs. They dont care what she does with it. They do have their own ways though. Ruth is all about her family. She is married and has a son. She is not selfish at all. Bennie on the other hand is all about herself. She talks to two different men and doesn't have any children.
6.Their are 3 grown women in the house and only 1 man. I think he feels he should be able to do more than anyone else sonce he is tha man of the house, but all the power belongs to Mama because not only is she the oldest, but she has the money.
7.They are a black family moving into a white neighborhood, where they aren't wanted. They work for White peoplr but they aren't accepted enough to have the white's welcome them.
8.If I were to write act 3, Mama would stop working, the family would move out, and everyone would either find new jobs or stop working at all. They would stay to themselves instead of tryiong to fit in with the neighborhood.
9.Walter is not a likable character until the end of the story. He doesnt really seem to care about anyone else's feelings at all until Mama makes him teach his son a lesson and he'd seen how bad he'd hurt everyone's feelings. He only cares about himself.
10.George:Doesnt really care if bennie is educated. he wants her to depend on him; Beneatha: Cares deeply about school and education. she is independent and doesnt care about men as much as she cares about school; Walter: doesnt care about Bennie's schooling. he thinks it is selfish uf her.

Sorry its late I was out for this so now I am turning it in.

I. I believe that Hansberry’s overall message of the Book was to show that money cannot always bring happiness and your Family comes first always.

II. The central theme of this novel is Money, Dreams, Desire, Hope, and Faith.

III. The central conflict is that the family gets a check for 10,000 dollars and they cannot decide on what to do with the money.

IV. Beneatha: She is a lost child who does not believe in God and believes that man brings miracles and she wishes to be a doctor.
Mama: Mama believes in the lord and thinks that he can always make a way for anything she doesn’t really have a lust for money.

V. Ruth: Cares about her family first and works her self to death for them and doesn’t really care for the money.
Beneatha: Is not worried about getting married soon but becoming a doctor, she cares for herself more.

VI. Class makes a big difference in this novel because Beneatha as well as Walter believe money will make anyone happy along with material things. While Ruth and Mama don’t really care for it.

VII. Gender is important because the men in this novel believe that women should only follow behind there man and be quiet.

VIII. Race plays a significant role because African Americans do not get as much opportunities as Whites do.

IX. If I could rewrite Act Three I would allow for everyone to move into the new home as well as for Beneatha and Walter to obtain their dreams.

X. I believe that Walter can be likable but from what I have seen so far h only thinks of himself and the money that comes for his mother.

XI. George: George believes that education is just something to have as if its not important at all.
Walter: Walter believes that education can help you make a lot more money in the long run.
Beneatha: Bennie believes that education can help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself.

XII. Beneatha’s Hair represents her heritage and how she feels about her cultural heritage, George shows represents how rich black men can be shallow and let their pride get in the way, A Raisin in the Sun represents someone’s Dream being dried up and lost.

XIII. Yea I believe that it belongs in the English Curriculum to show that money cannot always bring goals closer to you and your family should always be your first thought.
